Week 1
Unfortunately, due to some issues regarding my timetable, I missed out on the first Research Project class. On the next class, our teacher Ms Mcinnes introduced the subject 'Research Project' and informed us about the different assesment tasks that had to be completed. Ms Mickinnes instructed us to choose a contemporary issue or topic concerning the community for the major investigation. She also suggested that we search for different controversial issues and use as many different sources as possible. I started of my investigation by looking up different controversial issues on google. This had directed me to various websites that enlisted a variety ofglobally globally contemporary and controversial issues. I then chose climate change as my research topic as it had intrigued me.
As I found climate change such a broad and extended topic, I've decided to narrow my topic down to 'global warming'. I strongly believe that our environment is pessimistically changing due to the development of technology. Yet there are small changes that could be made together as a community which will effectively reduce the effects of global warming. In addition, I want to be able to make a difference to the way others think and behave with issues regarding climate change as I believe that human activity is one of the main causes of global warming.
Although global warming is an interesting topic, after a few days of analysing the news, media, and other current sources, I found that natural disaster has a global issues. This had triggered me to change my topic to natural disaster as I wanted to find a topic that interested and allows me to efficiently develop my personal learning skills.
Week 2
We were instructed by Ms Mcinnes on Monday's lesson to write 5 summaries for our topic. She had also introduced us to a new program called ebscohost where you could find different sources for this task and our research topic. 5 Annotated bibliography for Global warming:
During the next few lessons, I spend my time in classes looking for both primary and secondary sources. I asked for permission to search for some books in the library to which I've discovered a few updated books on my topic in the library. Using secondary sources from the library instead of streaming the web in class gave me an advantage as I've realised that the research could be implemented at home. Therefore, I can effectively utilise my time and maximise my chance of success in this topic. .
Books which I've found and analysed during this week:
Week 3
Throughout week 3, teacher had introduced us to the ideas of CRAP.
CRAP, used as an abbreviated term for Credibility, Reliability, Authority, and Purpose is ther process in which assist the . Our teacher had assisted us by explaining the principles of this idea and had presented us with several examples from different websites.
In addition, we were also instructed to write up a research proposal. I wasn't sure of how to construct this proposal so I spoke to my teacher about this issue. Although I had a lot of negative feedbacks on my first attempt, I was able to improve my research proposal by seriously considering my teacher's advise on how I could improve it.

Research Proposal (FINAL COPY)
Geological Disasters The chosen topic for this investigation is the significant issue of Geological disasters. In fact, it is currently a controversial issue that has been widely debated by the media, politicians, and scientists. This issue has rapidly gained momentum due to the media coverage of the earthquake and tsunami which destroyed Japan. The question selected for this research is, ‘What is triggering the global phenomena of geological disasters?’ The primary goal of this investigation is to alert others about geological disasters and ways to overcome them.
Capability Citizenship is the capability which has been selected and to be demonstrated through this research. As educating others is the fundamental basis of this task, ethical issues are one of the main principles that must be illustrated. This research involves the task of constructing a poster followed by a written essay that should appeal to students and teachers as well as highlighting the issue of geological disasters.
Research Development By the means of accessing secondary sources such as books and internet websites, this should assist in developing a cohesive awareness of what geological disasters are.
To gain a deeper understanding of geological disasters, this investigation will continue through analysing different primary sources. This process will require the contacting of experts via emails or telephone calls to arrange times for interviews. The selected contact for this research is the Bureau of Meteorology’s office in South Australia, where an expert will provide significant data on geological disasters.
Firstly, it is required that appropriate questions must be designed for the interview. Before conducting the interview, one of the main ethical issues that must consulted is the procedure of obtaining informed consent. This will require an introduction through verbal communications and notifying the questions that should be asked during the interview. It is also important to alert interviewee’s beforehand if any multimedia will be accessed during the interview. (E.g. cameras, voice recorders, etc…)
Sets of survey questions will also be produced and distributed to have a clearer understanding of the public’s opinion regarding geological disasters. Considering the appropriate numbers of sample groups and the location the surveys will be conducted to use the information gathered are factors that must be initiated. The next task involves the process of attaining informed consent when approaching the participants. It is also important to notify the participants that they have every right to withdraw from the survey if it becomes too distressful for them. If this does occur, a contact for support will be provided.
Another possible primary source would be attending conferences organised by natural disaster associations or accessing them via the internet. In addition, a process for documentation of the issue will also be kept as a source of evidence for the research development.

week 4
Our teacher had explained to us about a concept called the ' five W's' this week. Basically, what we had to do for this task is to continously ask questions which follows each other that starts with why. For examples:
1. Why is natural disasters such a controversial issue?
Natural disasters is such a controversial issue because it is currently debated by politicians and the media.
2. Why was it widely debated by politicians and the media?
It was widely debated by both politicians and the media because of the damage it it causing to our community.
3. Why is it causing damage to our community?
Natural disasters is causing damage to our community as it is destroying the effected areas as well as causing hundreds of deaths.

week 5
In week 5, I began preparing for my discussion. However, I was then informed by my research project teacher to go and speak to Ms Woud, who was the coordinator of Research Project due to a clash of topic with another student. This triggered a change of topic to geological disasters. I chose geological disasters as the recent news on the earthquakes in New Zealand and Japan captured my attention and had me questioned, ' Will there be a future for the younger generation?
Working under pressure was another skill that I must learn to cope for this week. Firstly, I approached several teachers, explained the whole situation, and asked for their advise on how I could approach my research. In addition, I also started collecting serveral news paper articles on geological disasters and enlisting them from the oldest to the most updated. Several of the teachers that I approached have supported me by providing serveral articles so that I can add to my research folio.
week 6
In week 6, I approached this research task by search the internet for useful sources of information as well as continue to collect more newspaper articles about the recent Earthquake in Japan. From my recent analysis of a varieties of secondary sources, I've found out that the earthquake which hit Japan have triggered the phenomena of a tsunami. It also triggered the melt down of several nuclear plants leaving a dangerous/harmful level of radiation in the atmosphere.
